Lots of forums and social networks pay for posts or share adsense revenue -- most of them also let their users put backlinks in signatures or they let them make a few posts about their sites and affiliate/referral links. If I cannot include 2 or 3 links to my websites, I usually do not contribute to others' sites. Traffic is everything.
