Previous News: The Free Host 90megs.com Brought Down By Hackers??

It took a couple days before the 90megs.com administrators let us know they had been hacked (and down below here you can see what we said before 90megs contacted us in the forum). But now they have let us sign up again. And their service is reliable, much as it was before.
Here's what they got around to telling us in one of the forums:
Sorry for all the problems that we have had lately. Some accounts were deleted by a hacker and we are in the process of fixing the site and script that we use to create the free accounts.
Anyone that had their account deleted will have to sign up again here:

its not pretty yet, but we want memebers to get their sites back.
We have some backups of some files, but it will be a while before we can recover any info from them.
Again I am sorry that this happened, but we are hiring 2 full time admins to monitor the server and answer any tech support questions.

What's up with this hosting. It go down's very often. Like few times a day. What's the problem. This really messing up my site. Also my script can't connect to mysql, many times. I hope you can fix the problem. Sorry about complaining.08-04-2005, 10:11 PM
The load on the server often seems to be very high.Next time you notice that the server's down, login to your cPanle (if you can) and click "Service Status" (it's the top entry of the bottom left hand menu). You'll probably notice that the server load is very high.

right now is down too.it goes down every so often. few times a day (not month).
and sometimes my site loads very slow.
i am not trying to compain.
i have one other site hosted on other free host, it never goes down. but i use 90megs cause it have some good features.

You know, they should make this the official 90megs support forum. Since the 90megs forum is on their server, you can't even get to the real 90megs forum to find out what's going on when the server's down.Of course, since the admins don't tell you what's going on anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter...

Yes, same with my site. When I try to view it I get http://www.30mb.com and 2 popups - http://credit-cards.layor.com and http://web-hosting.layor.com.Maybe 90megs.com is looking for any excuse to make money off the popups. They use our links and page ranks to redirect to their popups. (I don't know about 90megs.com - they provide a lot for free - but I'd say that more than half of the free hosts and freebie sites (e.g., redflagdeals.com) and forums are run by shady characters who don't know what "unprofessional" means.)

Did the brand-new dating site somehow offend you? It is not an adult site and has no members (zero members). I'm not some guy making money form the Internet. So far all I've made is about $65 from Google Adsense and that $65 is still pending.

I didn't realize that the official 90megs.com site was still up and running. Obviously, still no sign of the admins in the forum. But my first theory that 90megs was dead and gone might not be right since the main site is still there. I'm guessing 30mb is their new redirect for pages that don't exist, and all the accounts were deleted. There's still a (small) chance that they might restore accounts. Or maybe open for signups for real again?Probably most likely is that they're dead. That's what comes with free webhosting, to be honest. The best route is to look for free hosting on a separate free subdomain (like from dyndns or afraid.org) so you can take your domain with you when the host goes away.

OK I noticed that all the people that have 90megs sub domains that redirects to that 30MB pages at least when I check all the approved ones in the hosting request forum. But when I check the approved people hosting there own domain name there sites still work at the moment including mine. At leased one of the admins could come here and tell us whats going on it would be nice. I may prepare my other host to receive my domain if whats left of 90megs goes down completely.

Yes, seems like thats the situation, 90megs.com needs a real staff... I wish i could do more then to moderate these boards, but i cant
